Ana Darder, former student of ELISAVA Master's Degree in Photography and Design, has been finalist of the Dummy Award, organized within the framework of the Barcelona DOCfield Festival.
The project by the former student, "Todo está iluminado" (Everything is lit up), is a photobook in which darkness is an essential element. According to the author, "we always carry some kind of sorrow inside us, and this is what darkness expresses in my photographies, is like a black deep human spot which enters into the image".
The Photobook Dummy Award is a contest that wants to promote the photobook and consolidate it as the great support and diffusion tool of interesting stories. Thanks to this recognition, the photobook by Ana will be exhibited with the winner and the other finalists of this award in an exhibition in "The Folio Club" in Barcelona.
This is not the first time that the "Todo está iluminado" project is awarded. Ana’s photobook won the Emergent-Fundació Sorigué 2011 Award, participated in the SCAN International Photography Festival, and was finalist of the 10th edition of the Roberto Villagraz Grants awarded by Efti Madrid Photography School.
The Photobook Dummy Award has been developed within the framework of the Festival DOCfield Barcelona, which wants to recognize the social value of documental photography. A student of the Master’s Degree in Photography and Design, Peili Dong, also participates in this project with the Estoy en Barcelona exhibition.
